Internal Quality Assurer (Electrical)

Location: Home-based with regional travel – Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas.

Working pattern/hours: Full time & permanent. Normal working hours are 35 per week, Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00.

Salary: Up to £44,500, depending on skills and experience.

About the role

As an Electrical Internal Quality Assurer, you will play a key role in assuring and improving the quality of JTL’s electrical apprenticeship provision across the full apprentice journey.

Through risk-based sampling, observations, professional discussions and feedback from apprentices and employers, you will evaluate the quality and consistency of teaching, training, assessment and progress monitoring. You will provide assurance that apprentices are making appropriate progress and receiving the support, challenge and workplace opportunities they need to achieve.

You will work closely with Training Officers, Tutors and managers, providing clear feedback, coaching and guidance to strengthen professional practice and support sustained improvement. You will also identify emerging risks, themes and effective practice, contributing to standardisation and consistently high standards across JTL.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical assessor or Training Officer looking to move into quality assurance. Previous IQA experience is beneficial but is not essential, and we will provide support to help you develop in the role.

You will:

• Complete risk-based sampling and quality assurance activity across the full electrical apprenticeship journey.

• Review assessment decisions and evidence to ensure they are valid, authentic, current, sufficient, reliable and fair.

• Evaluate the quality of apprentices’ experience, progress and readiness for gateway and end-point assessment.

• Review how effectively barriers to learning are identified and whether additional learning support is timely, appropriate and having a measurable impact.

• Review teaching, training and assessment through observations, professional discussions, feedback and scrutiny of apprenticeship records.

• Provide clear, developmental feedback, coaching and guidance to Training Officers, Tutors and other delivery colleagues.

• Identify risks, recurring themes and effective practice, supporting managers and delivery teams to secure improvement.

• Lead and contribute to standardisation and moderation activity, promoting consistent assessment decisions.

• Produce accurate reports and maintain auditable records of sampling, findings, actions and follow-up activity.

• Support awarding organisation, EPAO and external quality assurance activity, while maintaining current occupational and professional competence.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced electrical assessor or Training Officer with strong technical knowledge, sound professional judgement and a commitment to improving apprenticeship delivery.

You will bring:

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Installation, a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent electrotechnical qualification.

• Current IET Wiring Regulations qualification (BS 7671), to the latest version.

• Level 3 TAQA Award, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent assessor qualification.

• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent.

• ECS Card or equivalent.

• Verifiable electrical industry experience and experience of assessing apprentices or learners.

• Strong communication, coaching, analytical and organisational skills, with confidence using digital and e-portfolio systems.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

• Level 3 Inspection and Testing qualification, or equivalent.

• Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, V1, D34 or equivalent IQA qualification.

• Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or equivalent.

• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.

• First Aid or Fire Marshal training.

• Previous experience of internal quality assurance, sampling, standardisation or moderation.

• Experience of coaching or mentoring assessors, Tutors or Training Officers.

• Experience of supporting external quality assurance or inspection activity.

• Experience of evaluating the effectiveness and impact of additional learning support.
